Woes Not Solved
by Ben Emanuel
Altamaha Riverkeeper worked with six local, state, and national citizens
groups to appeal state water withdrawal and discharge permits for the
proposed Plant Washington coal plant. The 850 megawatt coal plant is
a project of Power4Georgians, a company organized by Cobb Electrical
Membership Corporation (EMC) and four other EMCs. The coal plant will
be located in the Ogeechee basin at Sandersville, but the water
to run it will be piped from and discharged to the Oconee River. ARK
thanks our attorneys at Greenlaw and Southern Environmental Law Center
and our fellow citizens groups for their extensive efforts in filing
this appeal.
