Cathead Creek and Coastal Estuary Threatened by Excessive Dock Construction and Dredging Activities

The Altamaha Riverkeeper/Coastkeeper encourages citizens to review the following proposals for projects that we believe will have a negative impact on our watershed. To view complete descriptions of the proposed projects, click into the Coastal Resources Division (CRD) website links listed with each project. Each link provides a full description of the project with associated maps and drawings. Please review these projects and send your comments to the contact person provided.

Your comments will be reviewed and considered by the CRD staff and each member of the Coastal Marshland Protection Committee (CMPC). Decisions are made by the CMPC at periodic meetings which are open to the public. Projects are presented and the public is invited to make additional comments at this time.

Your participation in this process is critical to protecting our coastal resources.

McIntosh - CJ Tybee, LLC - Baisdens Bluff Development - Construction of Community Dock - Written Comments Due by 11/11/06
To complete the construction of a community dock facility for the residents of Baisdens Bluff located on the Crescent River, McIntosh County, Georgia.

Glynn - Public Works Department - Hutcheson Ditch Dredging - Written Comments Due By 11/11/06
To perform maintenance dredging in a tidal drainage ditch in Buffalo Swamp off the Turtle River, Glynn County, Georgia.

Glynn County - Harbor Development, LP - Liberty Harbor - Written Comments Due By 11/4/06
To construct and maintain a recreational marina and bridge crossing over a tidal creek located on the Brunswick River in Glynn County, Georgia.

Chatham - Southern LNG - Modification to Berthing Slip - Written Comments Due By 11/18/06
To dredge tidal waterbottoms, add a bulkhead and mooring dolphins to an existing berthing slip located within the Savannah River, Elba Island, Chatham County, Georgia.
