Good Morning Darrell,
Please find attached to this e-mail photos of what I saw in the
Brunswick sewage treatment plant discharge area yesterday (10-09-07).
This site was particularly disturbing because I observed new things
I had never seen before in this effluent stream. Please note in
a couple of the photos the color of the stuff on the marsh grass.
Also, the dried paper and stuff on the bush limbs is some what
out of character for a normal effluent stream. This tree is in
front of the discharge pipe on the west side of the stream. This
stuff is much too high for anything but a hard dirty discharge
on high tide. Please note there are also condoms hanging from these
limbs and in the water.
Also please note that the grease scum in some photos was not there
when I entered that area of the effluent stream, however, when
you find that scum on the water in there that is where you normally
find it. |

The Atlamaha Riverkeeper reported this site to the EPD on
July

collecting around the pipe and trees.

There were dried grease balls floating in the stream as the photos will
indicate and more paper and plastic in the stream than is usual. When
I first went into the site the water was up past the marsh roots and
there wasn't a lot of water coming from the pipe. While I was on site
they increased their discharge by at least three fold from when I first
got there and that is when the grease scum showed along with the grease
balls.
I have many more photos of paper and plastic materials in the water
I just figure there should be enough attached to this e-Mail.
Darrell, the Altamaha Riverkeeper, Inc. (ARK) has reported this site
not less than 6 times in the last three years for this same type violation.
As the enforcer of this sewage plant permit we request that you take
action to stop this problem.
Thank You.
