Citizens Learn How to Conduct Water Testing

People wanting to help their local waterways learned how to conduct basic water quality monitoring and testing at an Adopt-a-Stream training session sponsored by the Ogeechee and Altamaha Riverkeeper organizations.

The June 17 workshop on the banks of the Ohoopee River was taught by Ogeechee Riverkeeper, Dianna Wedincamp, who has been busy for the last month working to investigate the cause of a fish kill that killed over 33,000 fish on May 19 in the Ogeechee River.

Water pollution affects us all and our hope for the future is a generation of informed and concerned citizens working together to alleviate the problem. If  you are concerned about clean water, and wonder what you can do about it or you live, work, or play near a stream, and wonder if it’s healthy, and would like to volunteer to participate in an educational adopt a stream program, learn more...

The mission the Altamaha Riverkeeper is to protect and restore the habitat, water quality, and flow of the Altamaha form its headwaters in the Oconee, Ocmulgee and Ohoopee to its terminus at the Atlantic. Please support our efforts to raise awareness and defend the rivers against pollution and degradation by becoming a member.
