On June 29, 2005 Southern filed an application with FERC seeking
approval for the
cypress pipeline.
Details: The project will be constructed in three phases: Phase I will
include 166.63 miles of 24-inch diameter pipeline that will begin at
Southern's existing pipeline system near Rincon, GA, and interconnect with
four outlets: Atlanta Gas Light Company in Glynn County, GA; Southern's
South Georgia Pipeline in Nassau County, FL; Jacksonville Electric Authority
(JEA) in Duval County Florida; and Florida Gas Transmission Company's (FGT)
Jacksonville Lateral Pipeline in Clay County Florida. Minor modifications
will also be made to Southern's Marietta Meter Station located in Cobb
County , GA. Phase I is expected to be in service by May 1, 2007. Phase II
will add a compressor station located in Glynn County , GA and is expected
to be in service by May 1, 2009. Phase III will include 9.8 miles of
30-inch pipe paralleling Southern's existing pipeline system from port
Wentworth in Chatham County, GA to Rincon in Effingham County,GA; one
compressor station in Liberty County, GA and one compressor station in
Nassau County, FL. Phase III is expected to be in service by May 1, 2010.
Upon completion of all three phases, the Cypress Pipeline will be able to
provide 500,000 Mcf/d of firm transportation service. Assuming the timely
receipt of all required regulatory approvals, Southern anticipates
commencing construction in the fall of 2006.
