The Altamaha Riverkeeper's 5th Anniversary
It was a wonderful day with friends from all over the state
who came to celebrate the Altamaha Riverkeeper's 5th Year Anniversary in
Hawkinsville. Thanks to the gracious hospitality of Bub and Mary Lynde Way
who shared their house on the banks of the Ocmulgee River, guests enjoyed
an afternoon of fishing, canoeing, and boat tours of the river. Lunch was
a treat of low country boil, fresh fried fish, and a table full of home made
desserts. Joyce and William Ellison provided delightful entertainment featuring
river music and songs. Everyone enjoyed spending time on the Ocmulgee, one
of the four great rivers that make up the Altamaha River Watershed. It was
a great celebration with ARK friends and supporters who believe in the importance
of a healthy watershed.
- Special thanks go to the cooks for the party: Robert DeWitt, Carl and Jackie Poppell, James & Sumako Holland, Pat & Ferrell Griffin, Wendell and Kathleen Berryhill, Bruce Berryhill and Katrina Joren.
- Thanks to the boat captains, Butch Hall and Travis Bentley for providing the wonderful tours of the Ocmulgee River and thanks to Ed McDaniel for providing his boat
- Also thanks to all our guests who brought the tasty deserts and sharing in the celebration.
