October 6, 2009 and October 20, 2009 Hearings on
Plant Washington Permits
EPD has issued draft air, NPDES, groundwater, and surface water
withdrawal permits for the proposed Plant Washington coal plant in
Sandersville, Georgia, 60 miles east of Macon. The plant is expected
to
withdraw and discharge water to the already stressed Oconee River
system. ARK is working with groups throughout Georgia to oppose this
854-megawatt coal-fired power plant.

A
public meeting to answer questions and hear comments about the
permits will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Ridge Road Elementary
